In Minnesota, there is a potential Code change on the books that might require new homes that are 4500 sq ft or more that being built, to have water sprinklers put in the ceilings. This is an outrage because it would cause the rich to be homeless as we all know they can't afford the extra $9,000 cost that home would cost them. BATC says it would cost about $9,000 more per home.
The poor, on the other hand, we wouldn't lose the shirts on our backs, let alone our homes. Because we are more intelligent and know how to buy a home without being homeless, let alone house poor. The rich, on the other hand, they are so poor that they can't even come up with $9,000 dollars! I mean, that is like a Oliver Twist coming up with a Billion dollars! I mean, its an outrage! Marv McDaris, Division President of Pulte Homes and member of BATC’s Board of Directors agreed. “As homebuilders, we deal with regulations on a daily basis. We support most of them, but a home indoor sprinkler mandate is a costly, unnecessary government mandate that will not only add significant up-front costs to middle-class homeowners, but will be an ongoing cost and maintenance issue throughout the life of the home,” he said. quote from BATC Online Org
And useless? Everyone know that NO ONE dies in house fires! I mean seriously! Everyone uses fire alarms and hears them without issues! And who cares about those priceless photos no one can replace? I mean, its only mum, dad, grandparents, and the little infant! And wedding rings? Worthless! Deaf? Very useless! Besides, don't they have those silly little flashing lights that you can't see in smoky fog? Who needs them anyways?
Water sprinklers would only put out the fire so quickly that fire fighters won't have a chance to die in the fire! Who wants that! We want them to die! Don't we?
Just so that everyone is clear about what I am realing say:
1) That bloody arse who thinks that 4500 sq ft homes can't sell if they cost another $9,000 is full of shit! The rich buy those homes, not the bloody poor!
2) Water sprinklers when places every foot, has been proven to put out fires BEFORE the fire department arrives.
3) AND has been proven to save lives, cause less structural damage, and
4) makes a house liveable a lot faster!
5) Saves the lives of Fire Fighters
6) May even save those irreplaceable keepsakes!
7) Keeps the Rich homeless! ;)
I think we poor souls can scrape up a few bob to keep that Marv McDaris off the streets. I even have 9 cents in my pocket. Imagine that! By the way, the BATC does mention that the middle class will not be able to come up with this kind of cash. Seriously, if they can afford to buy a 4500 sq ft home, they can come up with $9,000! Someone who is trying to afford a townhome (around $150,000) will have issues coming up with the extra $9,000, but they aren't apart of this life saving code change. They should be!
